2004 NASCAR Cup champion Kurt Busch have had some run ins with the law over the years that he isn’t proud of, and this year he was part of another such incident. On August 13 around 11:40 PM, the champion racer was arrested for speeding while being intoxicated, in a 45mph zone at the Iredell County.

Kurt Busch was quick to take responsibility for his actions and made a public statement on social media promising to do good, admitting his mistake. With the legal drama around the DWI case over, Busch has shifted his focus back to racing. He hasn’t been involved in the sport since the incident and has often been seen travelling to different places including F1 races.

Busch recently spoke to Bob Pockarss and admitted that he regrets the mistakes and revealed that he has voluntarily completed a pre-trial assessment for the court hearing of his case. He is now focused on making amends to ensure he never gets into such trouble and is planning to return to racing soon. He seems to be hinting at a new 23XI Racing role or racing in a lower tier series.

I take full responsibility for my recent DWI arrest and deeply regret my actions. I voluntarily completed a pre-trial assessment and followed all recommendations ahead of my court date. I’m committed to making amends, ensuring this never happens again, and returning to racing with a renewed focus. Thank you to everyone who has supported me.

Kurt Busch told Bob Pockrass.

What was court sentence for Kurt Busch’s DWI?

The veteran pleaded guilty in the court on the DWI charges and had his other charges, reckless driving and speeding, dropped. His sentence was revealed in the recently concluded trial, which included community service.

He gets 60 days upended sentences and will be put on unsupervised probation. Busch is also required to complete 24 hours of community service and will have pay a community service fee as well. He has also forfeited his driver’s license and will have to apply for temporary permission to drive again.

23XI Racing and his sponsor Monster Energy hasn’t yet made a comment on the situation, isn’t expected to do so as well. It will be interesting to see if they will break the silence or not and what role they will play in the veteran’s racing return.
