Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson came into the Michigan Cup race with the hopes of pulling up an impressive win. He had a great start, as he found himself in a three-way battle for victory from the start with Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin. The rain delay, race postponement and cautions changed the whole race for them.

Kyle Larson and Bubba Wallace found themselves in the midfield on the final restart of stage-2 and during a duel, the No:5 Chevy got lose and collected multiple cars including the No:23 Toyota, running their races. Larson explained what went wrong on his interview with NBC after getting released from the infield care center.

Restarts are difficult here, you know, with the side-draft and all that. I was just trying to, you know, get all I could, and yeah, just try to, like, funnel to the top. I just moved up, got too close to whoever was outside of me, and sucked myself around. Yeah, just a bummer. We had an extremely fast car.
Kyle Larson said via NBC Sports.

The veteran driver further pointed out that he hates screwing up the race for his HMS crew, who were hopeful of a win, and his rivals who got collected in the crash. He admitted that he was trying to maximize on stage points and just over did it.

So, hate that I screwed that up for our team, and as well as the others out there that got collected in it. So yeah, just trying to get what I could, get some stage points, and just lost it.
Kyle Larson added.

Kyle Larson explained how he wrecked

The 2021 Cup champion while further talking about the crash pointed out that he doesn’t really know what caused him to spin out. He feels this was because of the hard tier and the surface, doesn’t suiting his actions on the track at the moment.

Yeah, I don’t know. I think just a hard tire and you know, that surface. You have a lot of grip, until you don’t. So, yeah, just screwed that up.
Kyle Larson said.

The HMS would be hoping to get his redemption next-week at Daytona either by winning or avoiding some heavy crash that would end up costing Rick Hendrick thousands. It would be interesting to see how the remaining races of the regular season would playout for him.
