The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season marked the entertaining championship battle between Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin, where the former broke the heart of the later yet again. It marked the second title win of the Hendrick Motorsports driver. Unfortunately, one of the biggest narratives after the triumph was the season as string as it should.
On his most recent appearance on the RACE Industry Week, Kyle Larson shared his thoughts on this narrative. He admitted that it was crazy to have such a season he had and still end up as the champion. The veteran asserted that the narrative is because of the high standard the fans have for the No:5 team.
Yeah. No, I mean it is incredible and crazy cause like Yeah, I don’t feel like it was like that good of a year, but um I think we’re also I think our standards and what everybody’s standards are for the five team is very high.
Kyle Larson said on RACE Industry Week.
The veteran pointed out that his triumph not only showed his teams impressive prowess, but also how inconsistent the whole grid has been in the Next-Gen era due to the series being more competitive as well as more crash prone. That’s why even after having a tough mid-season, the No:5 team ended the year as the points leader, with three wins to his name.
But yeah, I mean even looking at it like all those stats you just mentioned, I just I don’t know. I didn’t really feel like I scored that many points and didn’t feel like I whatever. But I think it just shows like how inconsistent everybody is, you know, in the Next-Gen era. Like it’s so easy to get caught up in crashes or have mistakes happen and whatnot.

Kyle Larson explained how he was able to bag the championship
Further talking on the same topic, Kyle Larson pointed out that he won the championship because his team was more consistent that the rest in griding out results. Them figuring out the balance between consistency and aggressiveness gave them significant rewards at the end of the season.

So, um, we’re able to be just a little bit more consistent than the others. And, um, you that’s that’s something that we’ve worked really hard on, too. Um, especially you, I feel like myself, I’ve just worked really hard on trying to figure out what it takes to be consistent, but um, and you know, also kind of still being aggressive and whatnot.
Kyle Larson said.
Further talking about the point, the veteran racer asserted that he is proud of his whole team for backing him and working hard during the tough times. They stood beside him, when they were insignificant for many races mid-season.
But um yeah, it’s uh it’s a difficult thing, but um yeah, I just again proud of the whole team for sticking through it cause it was it was definitely not something that we were used to, you know, dealing with the five team and just kind of just feeling like field fillers there for a little bit.
Kyle Larson added.
The comments from the Hendrick Motorsports veteran shows how tough the 2025 season have been for them and how they overcame the odds to be the champions. It was a season to remember for the No:5 team and its fans.
