The racing world was taken aback by the saddening news of Scott Bloomquist‘s demise. He was a multiple-time dirt race series champion and an icon in the motorsport world. Bloomquist died in a plane crash in Mooresburg. This saw multiple racing figures including Kyle Larson and Tony Stewart, honor him for his contribution to the dirt racing sphere as a whole.

Scott Bloomquist was a motoring legend. When he was a child, his father took him to watch stock car racing, which developed his interest in racing cars. Subsequently, he found himself building and upgrading his machinery and became a sensation in the junior ranks. He then started racing in the Dirt racing championships and became the 2004 World of Outlaws Model Series champion.

However, he died in a tragic incident where his plane crashed near his home in Mooresburg, trembling motorsport enthusiasts around the globe. On the other hand, reflecting on his dirt racing idol’s passing, Kyle Larson gave his condolences.

Following on a similar note, Tony Stewart paid homage to the racing legend.

Scott Bloomquist was one of a kind, and he’s probably the smartest guy I’ve ever been around when it comes to dirt racing. What he could do behind the wheel of a racecar was matched by the ingenuity he put into building his racecars. He was a force on the track and off, with a personality as big as his list of accomplishments. He made dirt racing better with a presence that will be greatly missed.

While both former Cup Series champions paid tribute to Bloomquist, Stewart explained the racing driver’s racecraft. The 53-year-old asserted that the fellow compatriot was a force to be reckoned with on track and his marks on dirt would never be washed away.

Witnessing the similarity between the two legend’s passing and their impact on the motorsport world, Rick Mast recalled a statement made by Kyle Petty. Furthermore, he claimed that the dirt track racing world lost its cowboy like how NASCAR did two decades ago.

I’ll never forget what Kyle Petty said when we lost Dale Sr. “Dale Earnhardt was our Cowboy and Cowboys aren’t supposed to die.” This morning, dirt track racing lost their Cowboy. RIP Scott Bloomquist.
