One of the major reasons for Hendrick Motorsports becoming the most accomplished team in the history of NASCAR is the fact that the are never hesitant to invest on drivers and crew that can help them build dynasties. The most recent example of it is the five-year contract extension Rick Hendrick has signed with Kyle Larson.

The No:5 Chevy driver, who won his second ever championship in the 2025 season was rewarded for the dominance he has shown since joining the team in 2021. Recently talking about the extension, Kyle Larson insisted that he wants to remain at the team for the rest of his racing career and even joked that his next contract with the team might be a lifetime deal.

For me, I don’t need the contract to know that I will hopefully be there for the rest of my life. I don’t ever foresee a reason for me to want to entertain being a part of another group. I know what I have at Hendrick Motorsports… So, maybe a lifetime contract will be the next one. But I am not too worried about it. I am pretty confident in where I am at and don’t have any plans to think about going anywhere else.

Kyle Larson said via motorsport.com.

Hall of Fame team owner Rick Hendrick won’t hesitate to sign the deal, as the last person to get that contract was four times Cup champion Jeff Gordon, who is now the vice chairman of the team. HMS sees Larson as someone capable of emulating the success of Gordon and Jimmie Johnson, so they see any long-term deal as the best option for the Chevy garage.

Well, it was expensive. But no, I wanted these guys in place and I didn’t want to race against them, and they are part of the family and the fabric of Hendrick Automotive and Hendrick Motorsports. And when you are that involved, and I look at Jeff Gordon standing over here, or Jimmie Johnson…So, for the next five or six years, we could put that in a drawer. We are going to race to win championships and win races.

Rick Hendrick said.

Kyle Larson isn’t interested in talking another team

Further talking about the point, Larson asserted that though he doesn’t care much about the duration of his new deal, he is happy it’s a long-term contract might give him the opportunity stay with them long-term. But his main goal remains winning races and championship with the teams.

I don’t get too wrapped up in the duration or all of that, I really just…it’s nice to know that I will be here for at least five years and hopefully more. And that is kind of it. I just get to work on trying to win more races and win more championships in the time that I am there.

Kyle Larson said

He is happy unlike many of his counterparts; he has long-term job security as short terms contracts has become the new normal among Cup teams. Larson is pretty confident that he will race till his 40s with the team.

So, yeah, grateful and I feel like it’s a very long-term contract compared to what you see these days. So, I am very happy with all of that and yeah, I think that gets me close to 40 and then we will see after that.

Kyle Larson added.

The comments from the Hendrick Motorsports drivers seems rational and on point. He has the best shot at creating a new NASCAR Cup Series legacy with HMS than any other teams and it’s the wise choice to remain with them long term.
