The NASCAR Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway was a dramatic event with Kyle Larson coming out victorious on double overtime. Amidst the wrecks and crashes, one of the major controversies of the day was the supposed jump-start from Kyle Larson on the penultimate restart that eventually gave him the edge to win.

Kyle Larson inherited the inside lane from Brad Keselowski ahead of the green flag after running out of fuel and did have better pace on the re-start which he used to overtake Ryan Blaney to take the lead, just before NASCAR called another caution. The No:5 Chevy driver broke down what happened on the lap in his post-race media interaction.

Yeah, I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know the correct answer. Sure, if I was in his position, maybe. The way the rule is written currently, it’s not. I don’t know. It would have taken a lot of time. It would have taken a couple more laps of caution because they would have had to have quickly call off the restart, then we’d have to go single file another time, then choose and then go.
Kyle Larson said in his post-race press conference.

He highlighted that if NASCAR has restarted the race again over his alleged the jump-start, it would have made the racing boring as their will be time-wasted for drivers to line-up again. He pointed out that it was tough decision to take from NASCAR and admitted that feels that sanctioning body will take a look at it again.

I don’t know, what is that, two extra laps? That’s kind of boring, especially in a two-and-a-half-mile track. That’s minutes of time going by. I’m sure they’re going to look at it, NASCAR, and see what they come up with. Yeah, it’s tough. It’s tough. I don’t know the right answer for sure.

Pretty neat to get an opportunity to race here on the oval again. What a job by our team. I mean, never gave up at all. We had the pit stop issue there early on. Just fought, dug and had things work out. Just can’t thank them enough.
Kyle Larson said.

The HMS crew has been on top of their game throughout this season and has put their driver in the best position to become the first Chevy team to win a championship in the Next-Gen ear. It would be interesting to see how the season would playout for them with 14 more races left in the schedule.
