Joe Gibbs Racing veteran Denny Hamlin and Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson have unique relationship on and of the track. While they are good friends off the track, on the track they are fierce rivals. They have had multiple run-ins over the years, while fighting for victories and the 2024 season has seen fair share of the same.

Recently the duo was seen engaged in a debate about their rivalry. Denny Hamlin was the one to start the debate as he claimed he doesn’t have any rivalry between them. The 2021 Cup champion responded by saying he can’t 100% agree with the point. The JGR driver responded to it saying they might have a rivalry and now the HMS driver has made another comment on the same.

Kyle Larson asserted that at Nashville, he and Hamlin had a respectful race and it showed they are over the supposed rivalry. He pointed out that current they have zero issues among them and is ready to move on. Only thing he wants from Hamlin now is bit more respect and space while they are in duels.

Where I’m at I think, you know, Nashville’s is really the first time that I’ve got to, you know, I feel like in my mind, show that I’m over it. Or like over the way that I’ve been raced. Now going forward I think I’m ready to move on, I’ve got zero issue at this point. I would like a little bit of respect on the race track and a little bit more room than maybe I’ve been give.

Kyle Larson asserts he is ready to move on

The Hendrick Motorsports driver pointed out that he and Hamlin are going to be battling for wins together many more times and asserted that despite the run-ins he enjoyed being in the fight with him. He added that he is read to move on and having more fun with the star JGR driver.

I think that we are the two top teams in the sport right now so we’re going to be battling for a lot more wins together and all that throughout the races and all that. So, I’ve enjoyed racing him in the past, it’s just we’ve had a few run-ins. Like I said, I’m ready to just move on and go back to having fun racing each other. Nashville is what it is and like I said, ready to move on.

It won’t be easy for the duo to move on from the clashes as they would find themselves in the close battles for wins again. It would be interesting to see how the battles between the two would playout as the season progresses.
