Hendrick Motorsports’ 2025 Cup champion Kyle Larson had a dramatic year that show the grit and determination, which makes him the standard for the current grid. He survived a massive mid-season slump, after the failed double duty attempt, to bag the championship beating Denny Hamlin in the finale, taking advantage of a late caution.

Though the 2025 stats of Kyle Larson aren’t as elite as his maiden championship triumph in 2021, that saw him with ten races, it was still one of the best runs in the Next-Gen era. He ended the season as the points leader, with three wins, 15 top 5s, 22 top 10s, 1,106 laps led driving the No:5 HMS Chevy.

The comments from the reigning champion after the triumph, shows even he didn’t see himself having such a dramatic path to title win. He admitted that no one foresaw him winning the title the way he did, making the year a different experience for him and he is proud of the effort from his whole team on the way to the victory.

I don’t think any of us foresaw us getting a second championship in the fashion that we did today. That probably makes it seem even different. Nonetheless, we’re on the list two times. That’s something to be proud of.

Kyle Larson said via nascar.com.

Further talking about the point, he admitted that he doesn’t have any idea about how the championship will be seen in regards to his legacy. It’s because the fact that he has many more years to compete in the sport and it not the time for him think about legacy. The championship win has given him the motivation to win more races as well as more titles, letting the legacy write itself.

As far as for legacy, I really don’t put a whole lot of thought into that yet. Like I’ve mentioned many times before, I think it’s really hard to think about that sort of thing right now as you’re still competing and plan to compete for quite a while. We’re still going to try and go out there and win more races. The legacy will kind of take care of itself as we approach that.

Kyle Larson is hoping for a Daytona 24 return

In a separate conversation in the off-season, Kyle Larson shared his thoughts on making no-NASCAR race starts in the future. One of the many races in his list in the iconic Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway, which he had won in 2016. He is looking to make a comeback in a strong car.

I think at this stage in my career, yeah, I’d do [the Rolex 24 at Daytona] again. I had fun those three years I did it. I didn’t want to keep doing it every year.

Kyle Larson said.

His non-stock car racing adventures wont only be IMSA season opener, as he will also continue his regular appearances in sprint car races, including his own High Limit Racing series. All these races is only making Kyle Larson a better and more legendary racer.
