Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson finished P21 at chaotic race at Talladega last Sunday. In hopes of getting the momentum back after the disappointing results, he started in the High Limit Racing series race at Riverside International Speedway. How owns the racing series, alongside his brother-in-law Brad Sweet.

But Kyle Larson was in for another disappointment, as he wrecked himself with just 14 laps left in the 0.25 miles race and finished at P23 in a race that had just 28 racers. The incident was one of the craziest and hilarious crashes of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champions’ career. Larson was running P3 fighting for the lead before the incident.

In an attempt to make a right turn, Larson who was on the outside lane tries to run as close to the wall while drifting to make the turn. His No:57 HendrickCars.com sponsored sprint car made contact with the wall and he went airborne, before landing upside down on the track, with the nose of the car pointing towards the sky.

Corey Day who was on the lead before the wreck went on to win the race ahead of Tanner Thorson. Brad Sweet scored P4 in race, while another Sprint car star Rico Abreu finished the race at P21. Ex-NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne, who is racing full-time in the series this year, secured a P13 finish in the race.

The fans on social media had a mixed reaction to the NASCAR champion’s wreck. Some were amazed by the wreck and pointed out that they are relived to see Kyle Larson walking away un-harmed. Last year, his HMS teammate Alex Bowman had to miss five race weeks due to a sprint car crash.

Some fans also used the opportunity to mock the racer, whom many sees as one of the best racer in the world. There were also few, who saw the hilarious side of things and said Larson was re-creating Corey Lejoie’s upside down finish at Talladega last Sunday.

Jokes aside, it was fortunate to see Larson walking away with no harm as any injury could put HMS and the No:5 Chevy drivers’ future dirt racing plans in a limbo, along with his Indy 500 plans. Larson would be hoping to bounceback in both the championships in the coming race week.
