2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson is someone who isn’t known for his radio outbursts. He often stays calm and composed in the team radio, just like he is with his racing. But two weeks ago, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the Hendrick Motorsports driver made some unexpected comments during the race.

Kyle Larson found himself in a close battle with Denny Hamlin during the race and the No:5 team spotter Tyler Monn wasn’t happy with his driver giving the JGR driver opportunity to race him hard. He criticized Larson via the radio and he star driver gave instant replay asking him “shut the f**k up.” Now the racer has come forth explaining the aftermath of the conversation.

He pointed at Chicago that he and Monn are really close and their relationship is strong enough to easily look over such conversations. Larson and his spotter have already had a discussion about what wet down on Sunday and had good laugh abut it. It shows how important it is for the driver to have a good relationship with his spotter to be successful.

Tyler and I, we get along really well. We have, you know, a close enough relationship where we can talk to each other about it after and joke about it. So, we were laughing about New Hampshire, as I got into the car before we re-fired. We’re all good there.
Kyle Larson told Bob Pockrass.

The No:5 had a fine start to the Chicago race weekend. Though he lost the Xfinity race Shane van Gisbergen, he has won the pole position for the Cup event. He credited the preparations and data collection his team has done in the Next-Gen era for the pole win along with the impressive qualifying sessions he has been having the whole season

I don’t know.. I think just probably the notebook. I think of now, we’re three years into this Next Gen car, so you hope to get better every time. I’m sure you’re getting every little detail more fine-tuned. Yeah, this year in qualifying – really racing too – has been a strong suit…Hopefully we can keep that up and keep our speed up in races, as well.
Kyle Larson said.

The HMS team would be hoping to go on to have an impressive race and possibly wining it. Beating Denny Hamlin in the process would definitely feels better for the spotter as well as the driver. It would be interesting to see how the race would playout for the champion driver.
