The NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway was wild, with Spire Motorsports’ Carson Hocevar being at the centre of it. He was involved in multiple incidents that infuriated championship winning veterans such as Kyle Busch and Ryan Blaney. This resulted in his mentor Ross Chastain confronting him soon after the race.

One driver that was able to take advantage of the situation was Kyle Larson, who unlike usual was running upfront fighting for the race win in a Superspeedway. Ahead of the COTA weekend, the No:5 HMS Chevy driver talked about the situation involving Carson Hocevar, though he also races with a similar level of aggression as the youngster.

For me, in particular, in my race, I had no issue. Obviously, I could see the moves he was making and whatnot throughout the whole race. But I don’t know, like it’s hard for me to sit here and judge because I’m an aggressive driver.

Kyle Larson said via SiriusXMNASCAR.

He then reminded Carson Hocevar how it is important to not to ruffle the feathers of the veterans in the series. They have the capability to make the life tough for them on the track and its important to not make enemies earlier in the career.

But in the beginning, I also didn’t want to ruffle any feathers, especially the veterans of the series… They [NASCAR veterans] can make life tough on you. So, I think you just want as little enemies as you can get coming in.

Kyle Larson added.

Austin Cindric response to call with Kyle Larson after Atalanta wreck

Just like Carson Hocevar, Kyle Larson was also involved in some wild incidents on last Sunday and one of the biggest incidents was the wreck of Austin Cindric. The Team Penske Racing driver had a call with the HMS racer and though the veteran took responsibility for the incident, he is disappointed as he held back a bit.

Kyle took responsibility on the end of the race there, which obviously ended our race. Talking about it doesn’t really un-wreck my race car, but I think we’re on the same page as to what the expectations are moving forward racing together. I felt like I could have said a lot more than I did. I like to honestly keep that behind closed doors…I felt like I was holding back.

Austin Cindric said.

The comment from Cindric shows how he is still bitter about the 2021 Cup champion costing him the opportunity to win a race early in the season. It would be interesting to see if the Nio:2 Ford driver will take some sort of revenge for the incident in t e coming races of the season.
