Kyle Larson who sports the No.5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports appears to have a changed opinion on the NextGen cars. During his testing of the new car, he didn’t feel that there was much difference but he seems to have changed his views on the car.
Kyle Larson is no doubt, one of the best racers HMC has, despite having three DNFs and a P29 at COTA last week, he managed to win the Auto Club 400 and steal P2 at the Pennzoil 400. Larson will remain one of the best racers out there today having won the 2021 NASCAR Championship.
NASCAR has completely redesigned their NextGen car from scratch with new aerodynamics, new wheels, and much more. Kyle Larson has different opinions on the vehicle.
“As far as me driving the car, I was surprised,” Kyle Larson on the difference Next-Gen car has with previous cars

Kyle Larson felt that the NextGen car left him startled as to the similarities with the previous generation of NASCAR race machines. He also added saying that the NextGen car feels much quicker in many aspects, the steering and other minute things which are much quicker in the new car.
“As far as me driving the car, I was surprised it didn’t seem that much different here than the previous car, the steering was maybe a little bit quicker. Just the little things all seemed to happen a little quicker. The moments when you got loose. Stuff like that,” said Kyle Larson.

But eventually, he had a change of opinions as he went on to say that the NextGen car is much more exciting and way better than anybody anticipated, there isn’t much drag and drafting is much better. He also felt that this new car is better than the previous one and that’s allowing racers to enjoy racing.
“Honestly, it’s been way better than I anticipated, and I think a lot of us anticipated. I thought dirty air would be impossible, I thought being behind people was gonna suck, and it’s been good. It’s been probably a little bit better than the previous in my opinion. So, I feel like that’s allowed the racing to be good, they feel really on edge,” said Kyle Larson.
He concluded by saying that the new car is a mix of the lower downforce and higher downforce cars from last year and that these new cars are much better on straight roads.
“We can get big runs down the straightaway. So, it’s kinda been a good mix of the old lower-sh downforce cars as well as the high downforce cars we had last year,” concluded Kyle Larson.
Will Kyle Larson put a show with his new favorite NextGen car this Sunday at Richmond Raceway?
