The NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega was expected to be chaotic, but no one in the racing community saw a 28-car wreck happening towards the end of the race. Brad Keselowski got pushed too much causing a contact with Austin Cindric, who collected almost all the cars having the four-wide battle in the midfield.

Former NASCAR driver Kyle Petty is furious about how the things played out on Sunday and was quick to call out the “greatest race car drivers in the world” for the stupid mistakes. He also slammed them for blaming the lapped car of Todd Gilliland for causing the incident, despite the fact that he didn’t everything to make sure he doesn’t get involved by running at the bottom.

We praise these guys as the greatest race car drivers in the world. They run three-wide, they run four-wide, and when we have the big wreck, they blame it on Todd Gilliland because he’s a lap car running on the bottom. They can’t run two-wide and pass a lap car? When you’re four-wide, you’re the greatest driver in the world.

Kyle Petty said via NASCAR YouTube.

The ex-Cup race winner went onto assert that the lack of passing that was seen in the race to an extent was because of the drivers not making the right call and asserted that it is those drivers’ failure that they couldn’t pass the lapped car. He believed that there was plenty of room for the drivers to make efficient moves.

When you’re two-wide racing you’re butt off, I guess you don’t know how to drive. I don’t know what happened there. Don’t blame it on a lap car at Talladega. There’s plenty of room. I don’t know what that’s all about.

Kyle Petty added.

Kyle Petty hate to see the fuel saving race at Talladega

Fuel saving has been a biggest factor in the Superspeedway racing in the Next-Gen era, and Kyle Petty hates it. He pointed out that Dega shouldn’t been a fuel-mileage race, and the drivers shouldn’t be going too extreme to do it.

Talladega should not be a fuel-mileage race. From the time they said gentlemen start your engines, there’s guys that set on pit road, ‘I’m not cranking my car. I’m not using gas right now.’ And they didn’t. They were saving fuel before the race even started.

Kyle Petty said.

The fuel saving was a man factor in the result of the Spring race at Talladega and it played a significant role on Sunday as well. It is the Next-Gen car is to blame for the incident and not the driver, as they don’t have a better alternative.
