Team Penske Racing’s Ryan Blaney, the defending NASCAR Cup Series champion came into this weekends race at Charlotte Motor Speedway with a lot of hopes. He won the Coca-Cola 600 last year, ending his two year long winless streak on the way to becoming the Cup champion. He had a special supporter backing to up for a consecutive win at CMS.

Baltimore Ravens’ star Quarter Back, Lamar Jakson who was the NFL MVP last season was spotted at the track sporting a shirt with the No:12 on it. The shirt had the No:12 alongside name of Ryan Blaney engraved in the front, the back as well as on the sleeves. Jakson might have come in hoping to see his driver win, but was in for a massive disappointment.

Mid-way to the second stage Ryan Blaney made contact with the wall and ended up busting the toe link of the No:12 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. The wheel got stuck and the Penske crew failed to remove it and get him back on track in time. Blaney DNFed ad was awarded the P39 finish, three places worse than Darlington last week where he DNFed as well.

I don’t know, I’ll have to look. I just made our stop and just getting up to speed, got into three and like I blew a tire. I don’t know if I run over something or what, we’ll have to look at it. But yeah, shame to end our night early, I mean not even halfway and I thought we were getting a little better.

Ryan Blaney told Fox Sports.

He went on to claim that car was slowing getting into the race and was getting a bit better before eventually the crash happened. He is annoyed ad disappointed for his crew that he wasn’t able to get the opportunity get a solid result from the race.

We weren't great by any means, but I thought we got a little better. We were seventh at the first stage and just kind of looking forward to continue to work on it all night, just never got that shot. So I hate it for [primary sponsor] folks. I'm annoyed.
Ryan Blaney added.

The last two race weeks has been a huge disappointment for the defending champion and his team. He would be hoping to get back to winning form soon as the season is already halfway and he hasn’t yet secured a playoff spot.
