Former NASCAR driver Landon Cassill was among several athletes named in a cryptocurrency-related class-action lawsuit tied to the collapse of Voyager Digital, alongside former Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.

While both were accused of promoting the platform prior to its failure, a US federal court dismissed the 2022 lawsuit on jurisdictional grounds, even as investors involved in the collapse suffered significant financial losses.

The recent lawsuit stems from the collapse of Voyager Digital, a cryptocurrency platform that filed for bankruptcy back in 2022. Many investors lost their money, including but not limited to big-name celebrities, athletes, and promoters. Subsequently, a lawsuit for alleged fraud and misleading promotion was filed against the defendants.

In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs claimed that Mark Cuban and other big-name athletes, including Landon Cassill, used their influence to promote the platform’s products. Though Cuban’s case still remains active, Cassill settled his case before with the plaintiffs. The former NASCAR driver was merely a promoter and did not own a stake in Voyager Digital during its rise or collapse.

According to reports, Landon Cassill, with others, paid a combined total of $2.4M for a settlement in the case lodged against him. Though Cassill was legally cleared of the disputes, many people still hold him and others involved accountable for the massive financial losses.

Amid the ongoing lawsuits with NASCAR, it certainly isn’t a good time for a former star to be involved in such financial fraud cases. However, the case settlement proves that the 36-year-old wasn’t fully involved in the fraud, and was solely a promoter paid for his duties.

Though Landon Cassill left NASCAR back in 2022, he still remains an active voice in the sport. Speaking on the 23XI-FRM charter lawsuit against the sport, Cassill pointed out that the sport would not listen to the people begging for more horsepower and low downforce. He further sarcastically pointed out that the pinnacle of stock racing focused more on giving big spoilers, tapered spacers, and other visual upgrades to the car.

No matter how much we beg for high horsepower/low downforce, they continue to give us big spoilers and a tapered spacer
