The 2024 NASCAR season witnessed the teams and the sanctioning body going head-to-head over the charter deal for the 2025-2031 season. The saga went into another level when 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports refused sign the take it or leave it deal offered, while every other team signed it. They then went on sue NASCAR alleging monopolistic behaviour.
This has put the future of the teams and the sport in a huge uncertainty with just moths left for the upcoming season. Ex-crew chief and sports analyst Larry McReynolds, who has been a active critic of the teams over the lawsuit recently discussed the topic yet again and asserted that at the moment everything is going in the direction of NASCAR.
He pointed out that Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin is going down a rabbit hole where they might get trapped. McReynolds though added that 23XI and FRM might not regret suing the owners of the sport, the France family.
Larry McReynolds claims not all owners think the charter deal is bad
In the same discussion, McReynolds pointed out that he isn’t going to back down from the stance that not all trams hate the new deal. He believes though not all owners agree with the deal, most of them doesn’t see it as a bad deal like 23XI and FRM does.
The comments from McReynolds are a warning to Hamin and Jordan, who has big hopes from the lawsuit, might not get the result they want. But at the end of the day, no one is going to win or lose from the lawsuit, and the sports is going to change as a whole.
