The Atlanta Cup Series Race marked the 5th round of the 2022 season cup series racing in the new Next-Gen cars and Chevrolet has come up as the top manufacturer yet securing 60% of wins this season all coming from team Hendrick Motorsports drivers. It doesn’t mean that the other teams who run Chevrolet weren’t good enough as they were consistently able to secure top 5 finishes this season.

Other than HMS the Trackhouse Racing team has been a revelation of 2022 with their drivers securing Top 5 spots often in a still-young season alongside Richard Childress Racing who has been impressed with their speed with only luck standing between them and a win. JTG Daugherty Racing, Petty GMS Motorsports, and Spire Motorsports have also been impressive with their chevies.

Now 4 times Cup Series champion and former Hendrick Motorsports vice chairman Jeff Gordon has come forth revealing what is the reason behind the Chevrolet Next-Gen cars success in 2022.

Jeff Gordon acknowledged that Chevrolet has doubled down on its commitment to NASCAR and has been supporting all of its teams irrespective of their rankings. He added that by Chevrolet passing out all the data they have on wind tunnel, CFD, or simulation it is prompting the teams to put up good fights and aims for victory.

I think Chevrolet has really doubled down their commitment in NASCAR and how they can support all the race teams,” Jeff Gordon said.

“But it’s not just the big three that we talk about with Childress and Hendrick and Trackhouse. It’s all the way through the field. The more you can keep that communication and data and different types of information streaming to all of the teams — whether it be the wind tunnel, CFD, or simulation — the better all your teams are going to be and contribute,” Jeff Gordon added.
