Over the years NASCAR Cup Series has seen some drivers who can easily be named alongside the elites of the sport and consistently been a class apart in the generation who hasn’t won a championship. Mark Martin, Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards and Junior Johnson are the greatest in this list.

Joe Gibbs Racing veteran Denny Hamlin is the winningest in the list and is considered the best to never win the championship alongside Mark Martin. If the 23XI Racing co-owner retires without unfortunately winning the championship, it is highly likely that he will earn the tag of the best without the title.

Mark Martin though has already made the call on who is better of the two. In the recent episode of his podcast “On the Mark” he asked who among him and Hamlin is the better racer. He didn’t think twice before naming the No:11 TRD driver as the best among the two and explained how much underrated the veteran racer is.

Denny Hamlin. Three Daytona 500’s and 55 wins. That’s 15 more than me. And three of them were Daytona 500s. And when he came on the scene as a rookie, he blew our doors off. I mean, Denny Hamlin, he’s underrated. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Denny Hamlin shares his disappointment about Homestead losing playoff spot

Last week race at Homestead Miami was the last playoff race at the track, as the track lost its spot for the 2025 season. Like many of his fellow NASCAR drivers, Denny Hamlin also feels off about the decision and pointed out that its very unfortunate that the track isn’t in the playoff next season.

And very unfortunate we’re not going to see it in even in the playoffs next year. They just they put it where they thought was best but who knows if that’s right or not. But certainly from a pure standpoint you know that that is NASCAR racing 101.

Most people in the NASCAR community shares a similar sentiment on the issues and seems to be hopeful that the track will come back to the playoff schedule in the 2025 season. It will be interesting to see if NASCAR would listen to the fans and add it back to Maimi.
