Racing legend Mark Martin has revealed who he sees as the best teammate ever in the sport, from the long list of elite colleagues.

NASCAR Hall of Famer Mark Martin is regarded by many as the bet’s driver in the history of the sport to not to win the championship. He won over 40 races in premier division in his illustrious career and has finished P2 in the chase a record four times. Over the years, he has raced for some of the biggest teams in the sport.

So recently when he was asked to pick the teammate he sees as the best ever, fans were curious who would Mark Martin will pick. He has raced with the likes of Matt Kenseth, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Martin Truex Jr., Tony Stewart and Danica Patrick, alongside many other sports legends.

But according to Mark Martin his best ever teammate has been Jeff Burton, who he was teammate at Roush Racing from 1996 to 2004. He was Martin’s longest serving teammate and one of the closest friends. He feels when they were racing together, it was magic on the track. Martin’s selection is purely based on the team dynamic and not the personal achievements of his teammates.

We would all share information at varying degrees. In other words, your best buddy, you would share everything, and that would be Jeff Burton. Why? Because Jeff shared everything with me… When Burton and I got together, it was magic. The guy was just the best teammate you could ever have.

While explaining what makes Burton special, Martin pointed out that his teammate was someone who always build respect by volunteering to help them regarding everything. The veteran always felt Burton had his back thorough out their time together, something he didn’t get to experience with his other teammates.

He would run up and volunteer anything to try to help. That’s how he tried to build respect. He believed if he gave, he might get, so he was always trying to give. He had my best interest in my program all the time. Jeff watched out for me and my program, which really helped.

The comment from Martin shows the level of friendship and respect the duo shares. It was the backbone of the success they had together on the track and Martin is really lucky as his first ever teammate was his best ever.
