The 2024 NASCAR season saw one of the most respected racers in the history of stock car racing, Martin Truex Jr., retire from full-time racing, with the primary goal enjoying his life away from the time demanding series. But he will tackle the NASCAR challenge one more time soon with a part-time entry to the Daytona 500, the marquee event he has never won in his career.
Initially it was reported that Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s team will field a car for Martin Truex Jr. in 2025. But during the NASCAR season awards, MTJ confirmed that he will not be driving with 23XI. He pointed out that he doesn’t have much idea about how his management team is planning the Daytona race entry and revealed that it is JGR that is helping in fielding car.

It seems MTJ’s team has decided not to get involved in the huge mess that is happening at 23XI Racing. The teams don’t have charters for the 2025 season is currently fighting a lawsuit with NASCAR, with the potential of racing as open teams next season. So that’s a risk MTJ doesn’t have to take up at the moment.
JGR has huge expectations for Martin Truex Jr.’s replacement
Joe Gibbs Racing replaced Martin Truex Jr. with Chase Briscoe for the 2025 season and beyond. They are expecting the former SHR driver to be solid and start winning races as soon as he starts. The No:19 team crew chief James Small pointed out that he is confident of building the team around the former Xfinity Serie champion.
The 2025 season is going to be a huge challenge for Chase Briscoe. He has to be on top of his game as he is filling in for a legend of the sport and if he can win from the get-go, he can produce a solid fight for the championship.
