The 2024 NASCAR season saw one of the most respected racers in the history of stock car racing, Martin Truex Jr., retire from full-time racing, with the primary goal enjoying his life away from the time demanding series. But he will tackle the NASCAR challenge one more time soon with a part-time entry to the Daytona 500, the marquee event he has never won in his career.

Initially it was reported that Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s team will field a car for Martin Truex Jr. in 2025. But during the NASCAR season awards, MTJ confirmed that he will not be driving with 23XI. He pointed out that he doesn’t have much idea about how his management team is planning the Daytona race entry and revealed that it is JGR that is helping in fielding car.

No, it’s not. I’m not sure what they’re doing honestly. Up in the air. I was told JGR’s doing it somehow, so we’ll see.

Martin Truex Jr. said via Peter Stratta.

It seems MTJ’s team has decided not to get involved in the huge mess that is happening at 23XI Racing. The teams don’t have charters for the 2025 season is currently fighting a lawsuit with NASCAR, with the potential of racing as open teams next season. So that’s a risk MTJ doesn’t have to take up at the moment.

We’re gonna push him hard and it’s just really great to have somebody who lives in North Carolina and comes to the shop multiple times a week. So, we can actually build a team around him. And having in the process of developing a setup each week, and helping us be better as well.

Martin Truex Jr. said.

The 2025 season is going to be a huge challenge for Chase Briscoe.  He has to be on top of his game as he is filling in for a legend of the sport and if he can win from the get-go, he can produce a solid fight for the championship.
