Toyota is one of three manufacturers racing in the epitome of stock car racing. The Japanese maker introduced crucial upgrades in the early phase of the 2024 season, which has paid dividends to the teams as out of the eight races in 2024 so far, three have been won by the Japanese maker. Subsequently, Martin Truex Jr. has given an insight into why Toyotas have been so dominant recently.

When Toyota joined the array of manufacturers for NASCAR in 2007, it was way behind the pack in terms of performance. This soon changed as the Japanese car maker now looks to be on the level of other manufacturers. So far in the 2024 season, Denny Hamlin has claimed two wins, while Christopher Bell has claimed a single win in the Toyotas.

It’s been good. I mean, honestly, I think everybody did a great job designing the new [Toyota]Camry. Kind of putting ourselves in a in a good position where we can feel like running good everywhere we go… It’s been a good blend of being able to still be good on short tracks and road courses and these mile and a halfs, but still be pretty decent at plate racing too.

Martin Truex Jr. said in an interview with Frontstretch,

Martin Truex Jr. commended the designers for the new Camry XSE. Moreover, the former champion stated that the car is now well-balanced and provides a stable platform to race at various tracks, which its predecessor lacked. Subsequently, with the strong appreciation from the JGR driver, it seems that the Japanese manufacturer has hit the mark in terms of extracting performance from the regulations they are provided with and has aced it excellently.

Martin Truex Jr. feels good at Joe Gibbs Racing

The 43-year-old joined JGR in 2019 and was on the pace since day one, as he made it to the championship four in his first season with the team. However, his fortunes soon changed as drivers around him progressed while he was involved in strategic blunders. Despite all this bad luck, the former champion has claimed that he is happy with JGR.

The No: 19 Toyota driver stated that he has been lurking around the top five places since the start of the season. However, things have not played out in his favor, with bad luck striking the 43-year-old at various times. But he is adamant that a win is not far away due to his relatively fast Toyota.

I feel good about where we are at. We’ve had a top-three to top-five car every week, every race, with the exception of Martinsville last week. We haven’t quite capitalized on that over the course of some of these races, some of it in our control, and other stuff that just hasn’t worked out.

Martin Truex Jr. said.

Apart from this, Truex has qualified ninth for the race in Texas. Moreover, the former champion would be looking to play his cards right and challenge for a win. However, there are multiple drivers in the mix for the win at TMS, so fans could be in for a delight at TMS.
