23XI Racing star driver Bubba Wallace made history on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, becoming the first black racer to win a race at the iconic venue. The Brickyard 400 win ended his 100-race winless streak and earned him a well-deserved spot in the playoffs, alongside his teammate Tyler Reddick, who is almost in on points.

Team owner Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan is over the moon seeing his driver execute a solid race on Sunday and earning them the win. Jordan unfortunately wasn’t in the attendance at Indy, at yet again missed out on the opportunity to celebrate the win with his driver in the victory lane and kiss the bricks alongside Bubba Wallace.

But he was quick to contact the driver on the phone, sharing how proud he is after the win. Wallace shared how his conversation with the NBA legend went, revealing the boss was overjoyed with his win and is celebrating with him in spirit. The basketball champion is yet to celebrate a No:23 team win as the 23XI Racing owner on the victory lane.

He was just so proud. I said I wish you were here for it, he was like, he’s going to have a drink or two for me tonight. So, we’ll be celebrating together in spirit.

Bubba Wallace said to the TNT post-race broadcast (On3.com).

What makes the victory extra special is the fact that it came in a time where there is a lot of noise around the team owner the charter lawsuit. They are currently running as open teams, after losing the charters in a court battle. But them succeeding regardless of the challenges, shows the competitive spirit that defined the careers of both Jordan and Hamlin.

Talking about the win, Hamlin who finished the race on P3, declared that Wallace deserved the trophy as he was the fastest car of the day alongside William Byron. He asserted that if there wasn’t a rain delay and the race finished under green, the No:23 team would have won easily, as the executed really well the whole race.

They deserve to win the race. They were faster; they pulled way from the pack there. If the race goes green with no rain, they win it outright that way. Just a great, flawless execution day for Bubba, Charles [Denike], that whole team. Just so happy for them. They deserve it.

It’s not Bubba Wallace that produced a clinic, today as his boss Denny Hamlin was impressive in his No:11 Toyota Camry. He started the race P39, after going for his back-up car due to wreck earlier this weekend. He climbed all the way up to P3, with JGR and 23XI Racing helping the team to field a strong back-up car.

We had to take a little extra fuel on that last stop as we had to ‘pay that fuel tax’ at some point. All we needed is for me to not mess up yesterday and have a little better track position, have more options with the fuel and we would’ve had a winner. But I’m going to be kissing the bricks in street clothes rather than a driver suit.

Denny Hamlin said via NBC.

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver needed a strong finish, as he just signed a multi-year contract extension with the team. Now with four more races left in the regular season, having four wins in his bag and both of his drivers in the playoffs, with Wallace having a secured spot, he is in a great spot to chase his maiden title.
