The NASCAR Cup Series race at Darlington Raceway, that marked the start of the 2025 playoffs, witnessed dominance from the Toyota garage, with Chase Briscoe securing a dominant win. His triumph came the cost of 23XI Racing Tyler Reddick’s heart break. The veteran racer’s boss Michael Jordan had a solid message to his driver over the result.
Tyler Reddick came painfully close to securing his maiden win of the 2025 season but wasn’t fast enough to overtake the Joe Gibbs Racing No:19 Toyota driver Chase Briscoe, who was chasing back-to-back Darlington race win. On his post-race interview the star driver admitted that the result was frustrating and also shared hope that one day he was secure a win in the iconic venue.
It’s frustrating to finish second … I wish I could’ve been a little bit closer, but when I drove it off in there, I was already sideways, and I learned last spring that doesn’t work. A good, solid day, hopefully one day we win at Darlington.
Tyler Reddick said via USA Network broadcast (Via On3.com).
Furthermore, the 23XI Racing driver revealed the message he got from his boss Michael Jordan after the race. The NBA legend, who is in the middle of an anti-trust lawsuit was at the track cheering him. Jordan reminded Reddick how he survived an early incident with Josh Berry to get upfront, and how one day he can convert the P2’s to victories.
He reminded me it’s a long race. I pretty much forgot that me and [Josh] Berry got together on the first lap … this race could’ve been disastrous, but we survived that. We’ll turn these seconds into a victory one day.
Tyler Reddick asserted.
Tyler Reddick reveals the advantage Chase Briscoe had over him
In a separate conversation after the race about the result, the No:45 Toyota driver explained the advantage Briscoe had over him in the race. He pointed out that though his car was better in the long run, the No:19 Toyota had a clear advantage in short fast stints. This helped the young racer to defend better whenever Reddick came close.

The one time we got ahead of (Briscoe), we were just a little too tight, and he was able to get back by us. I think he were better than he was on long runs, he could just fire off a lot better. That was the difference tonight.
Tyler Reddick said.
The time ran out quickly for the 23XI Racing driver as well, as it took him significant time to get close to the leader, as he didn’t have the chance to make a second run. But in terms of points acquired, it was a successful race week for the team and he shouldn’t be thinking about race, till the same time next season.
I could get close. It unfortunately seemed that last run, the balance wasn’t quite as good as it’s been. Overall a really solid night for points in the playoffs. But man, yeah, I really want to win here. It’s frustrating to finish second going for it. I wish I could have been just a little bit closer.
Tyler Reddick added.
23XI Racing expects a lot from Tyler Reddick, who is their leading driver, regardless of his winless run. He has to consistently up top fighting for wins in the coming races to get himself into the championship-4, just like he did in the 2024 season.
