Veteran NASCAR driver Michael McDowell recently lost someone very near and dear to him. McDowell’s best friend, Joshua Brian Mann, died after an exhaustive battle with cancer. The #71 driver took to Social Media to pay a heartfelt tribute to his friend who passed away recently.
As per the obituary of Michael McDowell‘s friend Joshua Brian Mann, he died after a long-fought battle with Cancer. It is certainly not easy to lose someone so close to you, especially to such a terminal illness. Notably, Mann had enlisted in the Navy back in September 2000 and participated in a couple of high-profile National cases.
As such, Joshua definitely lived a life full of love and contentment, especially from the people near to him, and McDowell’s heartfelt post on X proves just how much of a great person he was. In a recent post on X, Michael McDowell talked at length about the entire matter and shared a very vulnerable side of himself.
McDowell wrote that his best friend went to be with the Lord following such an excruciating battle with Cancer. Though he did not dive into the specifics of the Cancer, it definitely isn’t easy either. In a teary manner, Michael McDowell claimed that Joshua would no longer suffer from endless pain, suffering, and treatment, as it was only an uphill battle with Cancer.
McDowell made a gut-wrenching acceptance that the Earth is not our home, and his friend Joshua’s passing only proved this point further. Though a person will leave their physical form, the bonds they shared with their families and friends will last for an eternity.
Joshua Brian Mann is survived by his wife, Anita Lynn, and two lovely kids, namely, his son Max Teagan and his daughter Logan Harper. In the obituary, the family revealed that all the donations and proceeds made in the loving memory of Joshua Brian Mann will be donated to Take the Trip foundation, which provides people with terminal illness an experience of a lifetime.
Today, my best friend went to be with the Lord, No more pain, no more suffering, no more treatments. It is a great reminder that this Earth is not our home. Faith, Family, and Friends will last for eternity.

Michael McDowell opens up on NASCAR retirement plans
Michael McDowell made his coveted NASCAR debut back in 2007 and hasn’t looked back ever since. He won the historic Daytona 500 back in 2021 as it was one of the greatest moments of his career. However, McDowell has faced many years of disappointment in the pinnacle of stock racing. Despite his struggles since then, he isn’t planning on calling it quits anytime soon.

Speaking on potential retirement, Michael McDowell clarified that he did not wish to do so in the near future. McDowell recalled that his first decade in the sport wasn’t as enjoyable for him, and he struggled a lot in a non-competitive environment with the teams. He reflected that he just tried to hold onto his seat long enough so he could get to his current phase in his racing career.
Not in the near future. For me, I have been doing this a long time, but for those who have followed the sport, they know my first 10 years were a struggle where I was not in a competitive environment or enjoying myself. I was just trying to stay in the sport and stay in a seat long enough to get to where I am now.
Michael McDowell said, as reported by motorsport.com.
Michael McDowell would now be motivated to give it his all and battle it hard on the track, especially after his newfound perspective in his life after the passing of his best friend. McDowell will always keep Joshua in his heart and definitely honor his legacy in one of the upcoming races.
