Toyota team 23XI Racing and Ford team Front Row Motorsports files a lawsuit against NASCAR after refusing sign the new 2025-2031 Charter agreement. They accuse NASCAR of using monopolistic practices to make teams sign the new deal and this racing community has a mix reaction to the legal action questioning the status quo.
One of the strong critics of the lawsuit was ex-crew chief Larry McReynolds, who slammed Michael Jordan for the move and overlooked FRM by branding them as a non-competitive team. Front Row’s driver Michael McDowell didn’t like this criticism and has spoken up against it, despite not wanting to as he wanted to avoid the noise.
He pointed out that the comments from the legendary crew chief was really offensive. McDowell didn’t like the claim that small team doesn’t have a say in the sport. He pointed out that his team his darn competitive and deserves the right to be heard.
Michael McDowell backs this argument with his Superspeedway record
The veteran driver made highlighted the fact that his team won’t their sixth pole in the Superspeedway for Talladega, and it proves that their team is really competitive. He also admitted that he would have left the dig slide, if not for the competitive comment as he didn’t want part of the lawsuit noise.
The comments made by McDowell is on point and should be respected. He limited his comments to everything he and his crew does on the track and highlighted that they should be respected for those exploits. It will be interesting to see how McReynolds will respond to these comments.
