Mike Wallace has shared his feelings about his approach towards racing in the 2025 Daytona 500 and the potential of his calling off the attempt.

The 2025 Daytona 500 is set to features one of the biggest filed in the modern age. According to the latest reports over 46 cars are attempting to qualify for the race, with 10 open teams looking to secure one of the four slots available. 65-year-old Mike Wallace is going to be the star of the open cars, as he is set to become the second oldest driver to start the crown jewel race.
Mike Wallace will drive for MBM Motorsports, with his main objective of honoring his late wife and start 2025, in a positive note to the whole family. He is approaching his attempt rationally and isn’t looking to take any unnecessary risk that is going to put his life in danger. Wallace has told his kids that he will always prioritize his life over racing in the event.

Trying to get as educated as I can. But I did tell my kids that, ‘Hey, when I roll out on a racetrack,'[…] That if something doesn’t feel right to me, look, my life is way more important than anybody else.
Mike Wallace said via SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
He revealed that if something doesn’t feel right at the moment for him, he will call it quits. Wallace will give the opportunity to his MBM back up driver for the event.
So, if something doesn’t feel right to me, I’ll just call it. ‘Hey, we tried, you know, but we’ll put somebody else in that baby[car].

Mike Wallace is excited about qualifying with more cars
In the same conversation, Mike Wallace asserted that he doesn’t think anything is going to happen to him and he will not miss the event. He is also excited about the vast number of cars that are attempting to qualify for the event.

But I don’t think that’s going to happen. At least I hope not. And, you know, the more cars are in these qualifiers are exciting. And the sport needs that right now. We need excitement. NASCAR has been a part of my life for many years.
