(Video) NASCAR mourns the death of 1983 Cup champion Bobby Allison
The NASCAR garage has joined the fans in mourning the death of Hall of Famer Bobby Allison, with special tributes.

The NASCAR community received a shocking news while they were celebrating the championship weekend. Hall of Famer and the 1983 Cup Series champion Bobby Allison passed away at the age of 86, at his home. The whole motorsports community grieved the death of the “Alabama Gang” leader who put stock car racing in the pop-culture map.
NASCAR honored Bobby Allison with special gestures ahead of the Xfinity Series season finale. They held a moment of silence at Phoenix race way ahead of the race and joined the Allison family on prayers. NASCAR via its social media handle also released a compilation video showcasing the masterclass performance of the racing legend.

Robert Arthur Allison a.k.a Bobby Allison had one of the most accomplished careers of anyone the sports has ever seen. In his 25-year-old career in the top tier he won 85 races, with the most recent one being credited to his name after 50 years and has two Xfinity Series race wins to his name as well.
He was more than just a racer.

He has won three Daytona 500s and has four Southern 500 wins to his name, engraving his name to the history books forever. Allison has also won an IROC championship as well in 1980. He had also tried his hand in open wheel racing with McLaren in the 1970s with two Indy 500 attempts that unfortunately didn’t yield any good results.
NASCAR shares a special message on Bobby Allison’s death
The CEO of NASCAR Jim France, who grew up watching the legend race, shared his views on the Alabama Gang leader’s performance. He highlighted that the Hall of Famer has had an impact that transcends beyond the track and he has given the sports everything possible. Allison had a connection with the fans, which till now only a handful of elite racers could match.

The France family also shared their heartfelt condolences over the demise and offered their prayers as well, alongside the whole NASCAR garage. The impact Allison alongside his brother Donnie, had in the sport will be remembered forever and the racing community should never let the generations forget about him.
