Hendrick Motorsports over the years has fielded some of the greatest drivers of NASCAR history and the world motor racing history. From seven-time Cup champion Jimmie Johnson to four-time champion Jeff Gordon, the list is prestigious. The latest and a quick addition to the list is Kyle Larson, who got into the same pedestal while racing just three years with the team.

Larson made his HMS debut in the year 2021 and dominated the season to secure his maiden Cup title by winning 10 races that season. He has won 17 races with HMS in the last three seasons and his worst finish in the championship was a P7 in 2022. Now recognizing the No:5 Chevy driver’s talent, Larson’s teammate Alex Bowman has called him the best of his generation.

Bowman while talking about Larson’s racing prowess and his experience in multiple racing disciplines gave him the best of our generation moniker while arguing that the sprint car domination isn’t the most impressive factor about his teammate. The No:48 Chevy driver is more impressed with Larson entering a new racing discipline and performing there with ease.

I don’t mean this in a disrespectful manner at all because I think he is the greatest race car driver of our generation hands down easily. But the winged sprint car thing isn’t the impressive one to me…I think doing the things that he hasn’t done before, that’s the really impressive to me. And yeah, he gets in everything and makes it look easy.

Kyle Larson has a role in Alex Bowman’s poor 2023 season

The 2023 season was arguably one of the worst ever in Alex Bowman’s career. He ended the season winless and missed out on the playoffs. His poor form was because of the four Cup events he missed due to the broken back.

Bowman broke his vertebra following a crazy accident in a High Limit Racing Series event.  The Sprint car series is owned by Kyle Larson and they have been hosting top dirt events since its inception in 2022, with Brad Sweet as a co-owner.

Going into the 2024 season both Bowman and Larson have lots of goals. Larson will be once again hoping to fight for the title next season like he did this year. While Bowman, the priority is to end his winless streak and secure playoffs.
