Travis Pastrana is the man of the moment. He made an impressive Daytona 500 debut and had an intense week as he also participated in the Truck Series opener. It might just be the week he would never want to forget in his life. However, it might be his first and last run at the track.
The sports action star finished eleventh in the race. He did not see that coming and was filled with excitement. Pastrana mentioned that it exceeded all his expectations. He reflected on how he wanted to help his teammate Bubba Wallace but unfortunately couldn’t as he wasn’t on his bumper. For a second, it looked like they would have been in the top five but could not make it because of the wreck.
Nevertheless, Pastrana was a happy man who had just secured a solid result. After the race, he stated, “These are the best drivers in the world. I’m not a great rear-wheel driver, I’m not a great pavement driver. Restrictor plate racing is a little different. We had a great team with this 23XI Toyota team, and it was an honour to be on the track with these guys. It was amazing that we were able to put it in the top twenty. I’m proud of everyone involved and so thankful to be here.”
Pastrana revealed that he wanted the Daytona experience as he had already been winning championships on the dirt. He said, “As excited as I am right now, I might sleep for the next week. I am mentally and physically completely drained. Even in the Truck race, my heart rate was 170 in a three-wide pack. 182 was my high. That’s just on adrenaline. So, anyone that says NASCAR is boring, they’re full of crap. They’ve definitely never been in a car because this was one of the most exciting things I’ve ever done.”
Travis Pastrana was juiced up with adrenaline after his Cup Series debut
The motorsports competitor and stunt performer had his friends and family with him at the track and put on an excellent show for his fans. He slammed the NASCAR critics saying they wouldn’t know what it would feel like in the car. The man was pumped up after the race. He most certainly checked off the Daytona 500 from his bucket list.
It was only a short while before the smiles of his fans turned into frowns. Pastrana declared that he was not interested in participating in another Cup race. Regardless, he expressed that he was open to the Truck Series; he might jump in with Niece Motorsports if they hit him up during the weekend.
