23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace had the best season of his Cup career in 2023. He finished the season at P10 in the championship and was able to make it to the R-12 of the playoff despite not winning a single race. The consistency he showed the whole season and his improvised performance in the Road Courses were the reasons for his playoff charge.
This has given the sole African American racer on the Cup grid a whole new perspective going into the 2024 season. Going into the 2024 season, he wants to let everything settle down and happen naturally instead of trying too hard to get those goals on track. It’s a lesson he learned from the positive 2023 season.
Having a different outlook, different mindest coming into it. You know, not trying too hard. Let everything kind of naturally come to you. Look at what we did last year. It was really, really positive. … The start of last year I kind of chased what we were trying to do.Wallace told NBC Sports.
Bubba Wallace started preparing for the 2024 season early with Toyota’s help. He is set to drive a Toyota GT car alongside fellow TRD NASCAR racers at the Daytona IMSA event. His major purpose is to learn more about Road Course racing, one of his weak areas. He was given the seat after he asked TRD for help to make him better.
Bubba Wallace will be hoping to secure the win early in 2024
Going into the 2024 season, Wallace hopes to get out of her performance’s usual pattern. More often than not, Wallace will start his season strong before a slump in performance after a handful of races and will get back to running consistently in the second half of the season.
This has cost him multiple opportunities to secure victories and playoff opportunities. So, he hopes to win the race early in the season and grow more toward the end of the year. The 2024 season, starting with back-to-back superspeedway races, Daytona and Atlanta, will give him a good chance to achieve the goal.
Matching his teammate Tyler Reddick, who now has one year of experience driving for Toyota, will be another tough challenge for Wallace. Both 23XI racers have big expectations to match after the impressive 2023 season.
