23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace is having the best Cup season of his career in 2023. He had made it to playoffs, and now the R-12, for the first time in his career and his team’s history alongside his teammate Tyler Reddick. Wallace is one of the two drivers alongside Brad Keselowski, who is in the chase that is winless.
Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan’s driver have taken a big step toward securing the win he has been desperately searching for the whole season. He was the fastest driver at the Texas playoff qualifiers and will start up front on Sunday. It is the second time he has been in the pole position, with the first one coming last year at Michigan.
While talking about his qualifying performance, he addressed the hate he gets from a session NASCAR fan. Wallace said, as reported by Sportsnaut, “We keep outkicking the goalposts, and they keep moving it. That’s fine. We’ll make it work. You can’t help DARFs (Dumbass Race Fan’ in NASCAR vernacular).
Wallace was taking shots at fans who often tried to discredit him by changing narratives every time he invalidated their criticism. At first, it was his lack of wins, then it was a playoff, and once he made it to R-16, it was R-12, and now the target has shifted again.

Wallace pointed out that the Texas track is treacherous, and the pole won’t count for anything if he can hold on to the position, as once the track evolves and strategies play out, he is going to get behind. He pointed out that in order to win a race, he should forget about the short victories and find a way to get on top once he gets overtaken.

“It’s just qualifying. They don’t pay anything. It looks good on paper. This track is very treacherous. We have the best track position right now, but we know with strategy, everything is going to change and evolve. We are going to get behind at some point, so it is just a matter of making the most of every situation that we are in,” Wallace said.
“Right now, we start on the pole; if we lead all the laps – some people may pit and cut it. You are going to get behind at some point, so we’ve got to figure out how to get back up there, but you can’t get complacent on the small victories. It takes a lot of them to get to a big victory, but it’s a good start,” Wallace added.
