23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace believes he can make it to the playoffs if he can have clean weekends in the round of 16. The Toyota driver made it to the post-season lineup as the 16th-placed racer, marking a personal milestone. But he is one of the most overlooked drivers going into the post-season, as many don’t expect him to make it out of the first round.
While it’s his first playoff entry, winning playoff races isn’t new for the driver, as both of his career NASCAR Cup wins came during the last ten races of the season. In 2021, he secured his maiden win in the premier stock car racing series during the post-season race at Talladega. His second win came last season at Kanas during R-16. Wallace will be hoping to continue the streak, but this time, it will have more significance than ever.
While talking about the possibility of him making it to the championship four race at Phoenix as a contender instead of being a bystander. He pointed out that if he can drive without any mistakes, he can make it. He also pointed out that the coming R-16 races at Darlington, Kansas, and Bristol can be productive for him.
“Well, if I don’t do anything dumb, I hope to be racing at Phoenix, right? Don’t miss any weeks, no vacation. I think we are a lot better than 16th. I look at this first round as one of the strongest of any of the top 16. Darlington, we ran fourth in the spring, Kansas, we know we can do Kansas. Bristol, Bristol, we need a little more magic there, but top-10 car,” Wallace said, as reported by Speedwaymedia.

Bubba Wallace insists that they are better than the top-16 team
Denny Hamlin’s driver pointed out that the second round of playoffs is a bit tough for him as, other than Talladega, the other two tracks haven’t historically been the best for him. Texas is an okay track for him, while ROVAL isn’t a track he feels good at.
“Second round is where we are starting to work on that. Texas, we’ve been okay at. Talladega style is, Talladega, and then the ROVAL. We ran top 10 at, but don’t feel good about that one. Then the third round, I feel pretty good,” Wallace said.
So Wallace claims that if he can do well in the R-16 and survive the Round of 12, he can surely navigate his way to the final four. He said, “So, if we can do what we know how to do in the first round and maintain or do some stuff in the second round, there is no reason we can’t be top eight, top four. I really feel good about that, but definitely not a 16th-place car.”
