23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace has warned fans against expecting too much from the docu-series on the 2023 Cup playoff, which will streamed on Netflix. NASCAR will produce it with Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. as one of the executive producers. The sanctioning body expects to get the same difference the F1 docu-series ‘Drive to Survive made.
The series, which will have five episodes, will be aired in 2024, showcasing exclusive behind-the-screen footage from the grid during the 10-race Chase for the Championship. But, Wallace has pointed out to the fans that a genuine and authentic depiction of events won’t be possible as they match the teams can’t afford to share.
“It’s not rocket science. I think a lot of people in the garage struggle with that, and we get so caught up in, ‘Well, we can’t let them know our secrets, and we can’t talk about A, B, and C because we’re worried about X, Y, and Z.’ And it’s just like, well then tell them not even to come in,” Wallace told Forbs.
He pointed out that fans won’t be tuning into the series to see brand placement, and the show should revolve around people around the sport and their genuine emotions, which is what fans want to see. Wallace said that seeing other people tackling the work pressure can even help casual fans to do the same and relate it to their lives.
“It’s about people. It’s about people being able to latch on and see themselves within you because you’re working in such a high-pressure environment, and you’re being yourself. They want to see how you handle that because they might be dealing with the same stuff,” Wallace added.

Wallace pointed out that the series can benefit a lot from the partnership with the streaming giant and backed his argument by pointing to the success of F1’s Drive to Survive and PGA’s Full Swing. He added that he enjoyed the Full Swing docu-series.
“I think it’s huge, obviously, you know, Netflix is killing it with their Drive to Survive, Full Swing on the golf side. You know, that was really cool to see inside the personal side of things on the golf side,” Wallace said.
The two-time NASCAR Cup race winner is no stranger to Netflix docu-series. Race: Bubba Wallace, a documentary about the 23XI driver racing career, was a big success, and it even went on to win the Sports Emmys in its category.
