The 75th-anniversary edition of NSASCAR has kicked off with Daytona Speedways. Bubba Wallace is one of the few drivers expected to produce career-best runs in 2023. The 23XI Racing driver had his breakout year in 2022, scoring his second Cup race and finishing P19 in the championship with ten Top 10s.

Bubba Wallace is one of the most gifted drivers in Superspeedways. He has one of the best finish rates (13) in the history of the sport but is yet to score a win at the most prestigious Superspeedway event, the Daytona 500. The TRD driver has finished P2 twice at the Great American Race, with the latest coming in the 2022 season opener.

Wallace is expected to produce solid runs in 2023, and one of his main goals for the season is to win the Daytona 500. During his media day appearance at the Florida beach track, the No:23 driver pointed out that he wants to make a statement by winning Daytona 500 and believes his team can do it.

I’m excited. You cross your fingers and toes to hopefully be able to make it out in one piece this race, and then when we get to the West Coast, it is like, ‘It’s on now.’ It’s let’s get through Daytona and make a statement. I feel like our team is well-ready and well-capable of doing that,” Bubba Wallace said.

Bubba Wallace pointed out that he has no choice but to score at least a win in 2023, as it is the bare minimum expected from him after last season’s performance. He wants to ensure that he gets a win before the playoff, unlike the last two seasons, and get a spot in the post-season title Chase.

I think that we have to win at the right time. We have to win before the playoffs. One win, five wins – whatever it is between that, just have to do it at the right time, and then you set yourself up for the postseason. As long as you can carry that momentum into the postseason, we should be okay. Let’s get one, and then we can talk about multiple,” said Bubba Wallace.

Last season’s Kansas playoff race winner also deems his new teammate Tyler Reddick’s presence as a motivating factor that will push him to improve. He said,  “It motivates me to show up at places where I struggle – road courses – and be faster… We just can push each other to be better,”
