The NASCAR Truck Series finale at Phoenix Raceway was something the fans of the sport wanted to forget and never see again. ThorSporst Ben Rhodes secured his second title in three years, surviving 12 caution periods, four overtime restarts, and damage to his Truck from the clash with last year’s champion, Zane Smith.

But his triumph was overshadowed by the wreck fest and the dramatic fight between Corey Heim and Carson Hocevar. The latter crashed the former, who had one of the fastest cars on the day, with just 30 laps left in the race. It forced a retaliation from the Tricon Grage driver, who walled Hocevar as both of their title hopes were already over.

Hocevar, who has a reputation for being a crash-prone, over-aggressive driver, was asked by the media how he thinks his reputation will change due to the race at Phoenix. He replied to the question candidly and said that it wasn’t a thing of concern for him at the moment. The Spire driver is mad at himself for ruining the championship chance of his rival, Heim.

I’m just more mad right now that I cost (Heim) a chance at the championship. I don’t care about the reputation. I just feel bad that I robbed them of that. I just feel sorry for them. I can’t say that … I just messed up.
Hocevar told NBC.

Corey Heim says Hocevar will be getting aggressive treatment from the Cup garage

Hocevar is getting ready to make his full-time Cup series debut next season, replacing Ty Dillion at Spire Motorsports. His Phoenix race duties aren’t over now, as he has to drive the No:42 car of Legacy MC as well.

Heim, who is fostered by the aggression of Hocevar, in his post-race interview, pointed out that the Chevy driver will get aggressive treatment from his Cup rivals. He hints that Hocevar’s actions have caused another massive dent in his reputation.

Every guy on Sunday is going to see that and understand that they’re going to be racing against him like that.

Heim might be right, considering Hocevar has lost some respect he earned by cleaning his racing style mid-way to the season over the last few weeks. The community seriously criticized his final two Cup outings, and he might get tough treatment from his peers in 2024.
