Carson Hocevar recently signed a contract with Spire Motorsports, which would see him enter the NASCAR Cup Series. He’ll be manning the No: 77 Chevrolet Camaro for the team full-time. The Truck Series driver was brought in to replace Ty Dillon. Hocevar recently opened up about his current dynamic with Dale Earnhardt Jr. He also explained the massive changes to his career after Dale Jr. asked him when he would stop wrecking cars in their first meeting.

Hocevar has been involved in quite a few crashes this season, with one being in his Cup Series debut at Illinois. He revealed that he currently shares a good relationship with Dale Jr., his NASCAR hero growing up. He said that they stay in touch through texting, and he has even been praised by the 49-year-old. Hocevar said that Dale Jr. told him that he likes to call his races and watch him race.

“He reassured me that I’m making the right choice. He’s enjoyed calling the races and watching me. To be able to have that conversation and then not come full circle few months later is something I won’t take for granted. I mean, how often do you get complimented by your heroes in a text message?,” Hocevar told Fox Sports.

Hocevar will finally be coming into the Cup Series full-time after his new deal with Spire Motorsports. He is second in the Craftsman Truck Series, racing for Niece Motorsports. Taking a massive jump in his career, Hocevar opened up about his excitement about the opportunities that lie ahead for him.

He said that it is every driver’s dream to race in the Cup Series. Hocevar claims to be ready to race in Spire Motorsport’s No:77 Chevrolet and feels better than ever. He said that the team’s growth has been exponential. He said that he is looking forward to growing with the team.

“Anybody in my position wants to be a Cup Series driver. That’s what you dream about when you’re young. You want to race on Sundays. I feel more than prepared to get in the #77 car with Spire. That team is growing exponentially and I’m just excited for everything,” said Hocevar.

Hocevar has raced in the Cup Series part-time this season for Spire Motorsports and Legacy Motor Club. Hocevar had crashed out in his debut Cup race at Illinois for Spire. He will be racing alongside Corey LaJoie at Spire next season, who also signed an extension this year.
