Chad Knaus and Denny Hamlin

Chas Knaus, the Hendricks Motorsports Vice President, has addressed the comments of Denny Hamlin about Kyle Larson for his outing at the Bristol Dirt event. The race was a chaotic affair where Larson and Ryan Preece locked horns on several occasions. Moreover, their outing came to an abrupt halt as they both went into the fence for not backing out at a certain corner.

While the opinions on their tussle were divided, Denny Hamlin blatantly said that Kyle Larson was the one who was in the wrong. On his podcast, he brutally criticized Larson, which has not sat well with the Hendricks Motorsports Vice President. Chad Knaus, while being on the NASCAR Race Hub, tried his best to shy away from making a comment on Hamlin’s assessment, but was just not able to resist and took an indirect dig at the Joe Gibbs Racing driver.

Knaus was asked who, according to him, would do well between the Joe Gibbs Racing drivers at Martinsville, and while answering, he said, “There’s too many things going on. We have a lot of pit stops. It’s a difficult pit road. Restarts are problematic. You can speed on pit road. Not that Denny ever speeds. So I’m going to go with the No. 19.”

Looking at the comments of Chad Knaus, it is quite evident that he is not pleased with what Denny Hamlin said about Kyle Larson and thus has backed Martin Turex Jr. Moreover, Knaus took a dig at Hamlin for his speeding woes at Richmond from two weeks ago. There was always going to be a bit back of blowback, considering Hamlin took a shot at the 2021 Champion, Kyle Larson.

Denny Hamlin is one of the most experienced drivers on this year’s NASCAR Cup Series grid, he has been making his trade at the cup level for several years and is an absolute stalwart of the sport. However, his performances behind the wheel of the number 11 Toyota have been average at best this year. He has not been able to perform strong, consistent performances for the Joe Gibbs Racing team.

In the first eight races of the season, Hamlin has only managed two Top 10 finishes and has not been able to see himself anywhere near the Top 5 positions. Things have not panned out the way he would have wanted, but there is still a long way to go in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season. Denny Hamlin, despite being in his 40s, has still got all the skills that are necessary to do great things.

Considering everything that has happened in the season so far and Hamlin commenting on other drivers, do you think that American needs to focus on one thing rather than dividing his time between his on-track and off-track interests? The 2023 Cup Series campaign is long, and if Hamlin wants to have a strong campaign, then he would most probably need to start focusing on one thing.
