Christopher Bell’s journey to the 2022 season finale has been the definition of a roller coaster ride. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver produced his best when the time demanded it. He got into the Round of 8 and then to the season finale securing wins in the cut-off races.
Bell’s Martinsville win was the most impressive of the two. The momentum from the win will favor him going into the season finale at Phoenix. Bell is the only TRD driver remaining in the playoff, so he will have the entire organization’s resources under his disposal to go all in for the championship.
In his latest media interaction, Christopher Bell claimed that he is in the best position to win the championship going into the finale. He claims that he has the best team out of the four finalists.
“Yeah, I mean, I think I’m in the best position to win the championship because our cars have been extremely fast week in and week out. I feel like I’ve got the best team out of the four. I definitely like our chances,” Christopher Bell said.

Christopher Bell doesn’t see momentum as a Key to Championship 4 success

Christopher Bell asked how the Martinsville momentum will help him at Phoenix. The JGR driver believes the momentum won’t be the key to success. He explained his opinion by pointing out to the troubled Round of 12 he had after an impressive Round of 16 outings.
“I mean, a little bit. I should be the one that says no because my momentum has gone up, and I have had no momentum, right? I was great through the round of 16, and then it all got taken away in one race at Texas. I don’t really think momentum will play a key in it,” Christopher Bell said.
When asked about how he came out victorious in two must wins situations in the post-season, he gave all the credit to his No:20 team. He said, “I think a lot of it is just the caliber of people that we have in this 20 group. Thinking of Adam Stevens, William, and Tyler, my engineers, my mechanics that work on this car,”.
Christopher Bell pointed out that his crew didn’t give up on him when he struggled. He said, “I mean, it would have been so easy for them to give up and just not put in the effort going into those races whenever we were behind. But they did not give up,”.
Bell claimed that he has the best crew in the entire cup garage. He said, “They put their best foot forward and allowed us to execute the races that we needed the most. It just all goes back to people. I do feel that I have the best people in the garage,”.
