Full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series driver, Cole Custer, will return to the Cup Series for three races with Rick Ware Racing. He drives the No.00 Ford Mustang for Stewart Haas Racing in Xfinity. Custer will begin his Cup weekend in Quaker State 400 Presented by Walmart at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He was a full-time Cup driver from 2020 to 2022 and secured one race win. However, after his Cup Series stint, he went back to the Xfinity Series.
Cole Custer has returned to the Cup Series in a three-race deal with RWR and will drive the No.51 Jacob Companies Ford Mustang. It will be his first race since the 2022 season finale. The 25-year-old spoke about getting back into Cup racing again. He thanked RWR for the opportunity and revealed that he is grateful to be a part of the group.
Cole Custer stated, “It’s great to be getting back into a Cup car again. I can’t thank Rick Ware Racing enough for this opportunity. RWR is building a solid program, and I’m happy to help keep it growing in the right direction. It’s fun to be part of their group, and hopefully, we’ll have some solid runs together.” The Stewart Haas Racing driver is excited about his opportunity with RWR. After all, his 2018 Cup debut was with Rick Ware Racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Cole Custer will run three consecutive Cup races in July

Apart from the Atlanta race, Cole Custer will compete in Crayon 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on July 16. He will also race at the Poncho Raceway on July 23rd. It is three consecutive weekends. Having previously driven for SHR in the Cup series, the team moved him to the Xfinity Series after 2022. Custer has experience in both series which will be helpful for him.
Rick Ware Racing owner spoke about Cole Custer’s run with his team in Atlanta. He said, “We have put a lot of effort into elevating our program the past two years, and having Cole come race with us again is great for the team.” He believes this partnership is good for RWR. Ware praised Custer, “He has won at every level he’s competed in and is having a strong season in the Xfinity Series this year.”
Rick Ware hopes to capitalize on the momentum of Cole Custer winning two of the last three NXS races and looks forward to getting started together in Atlanta. Custer secured 12 wins and 86 top-ten finishes across 115 Xfinity races. As he won the last two, including the Chicago race, last weekend, Ware hopes Custer would repeat the result for RWR come Sunday.
