The No:15 Rick Ware Racing Ford Mustang was fielded for the Bristol Dirt race with more than the purpose of challenging for victory in mind. The car was sponsored by Public Square, an online marketplace, and GiveSendGo.com. They aim to raise $50,000, which will be used to support the families of the Match 27 Covenant School shooting victims.
The unfortunate incident occurred in March 27 at a private school in Nashville, Tennessee. A trans man named Aiden Hale, who was a former student at the school, murdered 3 students and 3 adults. Hale was shot dead by the police officers who responded to the 911 call and came to the rescue of the students. The incident prompted multiple protests in the area and around the country, demanding stricter gun laws and gun control.
The No:15. Mustang featured a wrap with the Public Squares campaign name: Pray For Covenant, GiveSendGo.com/Covenant engraved on the hood of the car. JJ Yeley drove the No:15 car on the day and finished the race P20, which is his best finish of the 2023 season. The top 20 runs will also give the team a necessary momentum boost, as they were out of the race early last weekend after Denny Hamlin‘s crash.
“We are always saddened to hear of tragic events like the shooting in Nashville, but we are thankful we are able to provide a platform for our people to share hope in devastating circumstances. Our prayers are with each family impacted and the community surrounding this school,” said Jacob Wells and Heather Wilson, co-founders of GiveSendGo.com, about the incident and partnership.

Fans were rooting for a strong finish from JJ Yeley at Bristol
JJ Yeley started the race in style and had a consistent race throughout with the car he had. The No:15 was never a race-win contender but still made a mark. He started the race at P3 after an impressive qualification round. He had strong backing from the RWR and NASCAR community to finish strong, as he was racing for a bigger purpose. Ahead of the race, Yeley took to Twitter requesting fans for their support for the campaign.
He tweeted, “Starting P3 tonight but carrying an even more important message on the RWR No. 15. Please consider donating to the families and loved ones of those lost on March 27th at The Covenant School,”. Fans quickly offered their support and wished him a great race.
