Kyle Weatherman is a part-time driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He drives the No.02 Chevrolet Camaro for Our Motorsports. He also gets behind the wheel of the No.96 Camaro for FRS Racing. Previously, he has competed in the Cup Series, Craftsman Truck Series, and ARCA Menards Series. There is someone who has taken notice of Weatherman’s performances. It is none other than the Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Last year, on an episode of “The Dale Jr Download,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. picked Kyle Weatherman as an underfunded driver he would like to see in an additional JR Motorsports car. The team already fields four full-time cars in the series. Earnhardt Jr. claimed Weatherman had been impressive in Jesse Iwuji’s car. However, Jesse Iwuji Motorsports is not contesting full-time in the 2023 Xfinity Series campaign.
On his podcast, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was asked whom he would like to see in his fifth JR Motorsports car, an underfunded driver across any series. The Hall of Famer replied, “Probably Kyle Weatherman. Yeah, I think what he’s able to do in Jesse Iwuji’s car has been impressive. I think he’s got good pace and speed, and it would be interesting to see how he might do. Let’s see.”
Recently, Kyle Weatherman retweeted the video of Earnhardt Jr. being open to giving him an opportunity. He captioned it, “Hey @DaleJr I heard there might be an opening over there in the 8 next year. What would it take to make this happen?”. He was hinting at the opening in JRM next season as Josh Berry is set to replace Kevin Harvick at SHR in 2024.

Kyle Weatherman is a driver in demand
Last season, Kyle Weatherman assisted the new Jesse Iwuji Motorsports with his decent results. The team was founded by NFL star Emmitt Smith and NASCAR driver plus U.S. Navy Reserve officer Jesse Iwuji in 2021. Weatherman finished tenth place, giving them their best result at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He also had ten top-20 finishes in 18 races.
There is no doubt that people in the industry have been keeping an eye on Weatherman. This year, the 25-year-old began his season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Our Motorsports picked him to drive the No.02 Chevrolet. Weatherman finished top 20 in both the races he competed in. The owner of FRS Racing, Collin Fern, also wanted Weatherman to drive for him as their first driver.
Besides driving part-time in the Xfinity Series, Kyle Weatherman has a freelance role, as he helps teams get their car to the track. The Missouri native is the man behind the Chevrolet simulator for Hendrick Motorsports. It is safe to say that Kyle Weatherman is a driver in demand.
