William Darrell Wallace Jr., aka Bubba Wallace, is the only black athlete competing in the premier stock car racing championship, NASCAR Cup Series. He is one of the most divisive characters among the fans. A small but significant group of fans are often spotted booing or making ill-intentioned comments about the driver on race days.

Wallace went through a similar situation during All-Star race weekend last Sunday. During the Truck and All-Star main event drivers’ intro, the TRD driver was welcomed by a group of fans with boos. Cup legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. while talking about the fans’ attitude towards the No:23 Camry driver, pointed out that he is getting more shit than anybody deserves in Dale Jr. Download podcast.

Dale Jr. recalled an incident from Darlington a fan was crying out loud, asking him to “Go Home.” He said, “Bubba gets introduced and walks across the stage (at Darlington Raceway), and there’s this guy right in front of me and Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth and everyone else there, screaming at the top of his lungs, ‘Go home! Go home! Go home!’ over and over, as loud as he could.”.

Dale Jr. said that’s when he realized the amount of “sh*t” the two times Cup race winner is going through every day. It would be a big realization to someone like Jr, one of the most famous drivers in sports history. “And it was so obnoxious. And I thought, man, that’s one day in Bubba’s life. I will tell you, man, Bubba Wallace puts up with more shit than anybody deserves.”

The boos weren’t the only unfortunate incident to occur on the day. The No:23 teams radio frequency was hijacked by fans with scanners who made derogatory comments to Wallace. Fortunately, Wallace didn’t hear it. One person said, “Go back to where you came from you a******,”. After sometimes another individual was heard saying, “You’re not wanted in NASCAR,”.

Dale Jr. addressed the situation and said it was a bad experience. He said, “Apparently, some fans had gotten onto his radio at the end of the race and were raising hell and saying some pretty bad sh*t. I thought that was bad. I hate that fans go to those lengths to jump on his radio. I mean, that took some effort to get the access to be able to do that,”.
