NASCAR Hall Of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. had a poor start to his 2023 Racing season as he finished P17 in the 2023 Icebreaker 125 at Florence Motor Speedway. The Saturday night event at Timmonsville, South Carolina, witnessed Maryland native Doug Barnes Jr.’s dominant performance, earning him his first win of the season.

Dale Jr. lined up his teammate Carson Kvapil in the event. The JR Motorsports owner drove the No:3 car while Kvapil piloted the No:8 car. Both drivers didn’t do justice to the iconic numbers they had on the car, with their fi in outside the top 10. The two times Xfinity series champion started the race at P15 and was able to move up to P11 but couldn’t move any further. A late-race crash prevented him from trying to finish inside the top 10.

The Dirty Mo Media owner pointed out in his post-race interview that the race is a humbling start for him. He is disappointed by the overall output of his team but insists that he would live to come back and race at the track.

“Both those cars didn’t run well. I don’t know what was wrong with eight. He said he wasn’t handling well. I mean, we didn’t change much from the 400. I don’t believe we’ll have to go home and try to figure it out, but, um, I had a blast love driving these cars and love going out here,” Dale Jr said.

“I knew I was gonna get my butt kicked uh several times, and you know it’s a part of it you want to come out here you can’t. You know you gotta be willing to be humbled, and we were humbled today, and we’ll try to come back and do it better next time,” Dale Jr. added.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. pointed out that he had a really good experience racing on the track against his former rivals, who are now team owners. He expected to find himself; in a challenging situation and understand how one learns to race better. Though he wants to come back and do better, Jr pointed out that he doesn’t have that same hunger.

I gotta gain all this knowledge back again and understand how to do better with these cars next time lastly—just having a day where you had really good races the first couple of times. You got into having a day where it’s kind of a struggle. Does it make you hungrier to come back and do it again next time? Well uh not really I’m hungry to come back,” Dale Jr. said.

I mean, I want to come back I’m going to do this again. I love racing these cars; I love racing in this environment and getting to know the drivers better and the team owners, and so forth. Some of them I raced against back in the 90s, but it’s humbling for sure, but it’s always going to be your day and that shows you how good this series is how good these cars are how competitive all the cars were that came today,” Dale Jr. added.
