Darlington Raceway, located in Darlington, South Carolina, is one of the oldest tracks that host NASCAR races. The first ever race held can be traced back to 1950. Fans nicknamed this track built for NASCAR “The Lady in Black” and “The Track too Tough to Tame”. It is one of the most iconic tracks in the Cup Series. As. It is known for its egg-shaped layout.

Darlington Raceway wants to amplify the experience for the fans. The Pearson Tower on the track, named after the Hall of Famer David Pearson, is a historic landmark and serves as the center for race operations. It includes the timing and score of each race. Apart from these uses, the Pearson Tower has become the most notable feature of the track.

The popular spot has been installing new modern seats ahead of NASCAR’s return for the Official Throwback Weekend on May 12-14. Pearson Tower’s new set-up, the larger and more comfortable seats with cup holders, will magnify the experience for the fans attending. The fans are all set to enjoy the stadium-style chair seats that will provide the utmost comfort.

The Track authorities have put a limited number of the historic seats from Pearson Tower on sale. The initiative’s main objective is to share the history and legacy of the track with the fans. Single chairs can be purchased for$50 and it will cost $90 for double chairs. They also have a set of four chairs available. A sum of the proceeds collected will go to Darlington Shares, the donor-advised fund of The NASCAR Foundation.

Darlington Raceway to honor NASCAR’s 75th anniversary

The Darlington Raceway president, Kerry Tharp, spoke about welcoming fans to this newly renovated tower. He said, “Darlington Raceway has one of the best pure race experiences in motorsports, but we are always looking for ways to enhance our fan experience, we look forward to welcoming fans back to the renovated Pearson Tower for the Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR”.

The 2023 season will mark NASCAR’s 75th anniversary. Darlington Raceway will host the NASCAR throwback weekend starting with the Craftsman Truck Series on May 12, the NASCAR Xfinity Series on the 13th, and the Cup Series on the 14th of May.  The Raceway also hosts a race weekend on the 2nd and 3rd of September. With the innovative track all set to enhance the experience, this will be quite the spot for the fans to take pictures and make memories.
