Sustainability has become a big discussion point around the world, especially in the Motorsports scene. Every racing championship around the world is coming up with inventions and measures that enable them to continue championship operations with minimal negative effects on nature. The premier stock car racing series NASCAR, owned by Jim France, has been investing in the same project over the years.
The R&D department of NASCAR is looking into the feasibility of either electric racing cars or using hydrogen-fueled vehicles. But according to Denny Hamlin, who is the co-owner of 23XI Racing and the driver of the No:11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Camry, believes that the changes associated with suitability projects will take years.

Hamlin pointed out that the sanctioned is still undecided on which path to take in terms of the future of the cars. They have two options, lithium batteries or hydrangea fuels. The decision will have to be taken with consultations with the Original Engine manufacturers (OEMs)of the sport and their plans around street cars for the future.
You’ve got our avid NASCAR fans that want one thing, you’ve got new fans that would like to see other things, you’ve got OEMs, that frankly, aren’t even aligned on what they believe the future is, whether it’s all lithium battery or is it some sort of mixture with hydrogen. I think it’s going to take a while for this to play out, and it’s going to take years to play out to figure out where transportation in general in the U.S. goes and throughout the world.Hamlin said, as reported by Autoweek.
NASCAR team owner sees EVs as the future
Team Penske Racing owner, Roger Penske believes the future of the sport will be full electric Sedans. He pointed out that the change won’t happen overnight but eventually, it will happen with the growing EV market in states and around the world.

I think that’s what we’re going to see. I don’t see it overnight, but you maybe could have a sedan series where they could run without fully electric vehicles.
Penske vision is very reasonable and a big possibility. NASCAR has recently revealed that they have fully operating EVs with a new body style and the tests they have done have been positive. At the same time, NASCAR is researching sustainable fuel options as well.
