With the 2024 US Presidential elections in the corner leading candidate for the Republican party and former US president Donald Trump has endorsed some candidate’s running for senet seat from different states. One of those who got a shoutout was ex-NASCAR driver Austin Theriault who is running to the office from Maine.

Austin Theriault is currently fighting in the Republican primaries and is expected to come out victorious.  He would be fighting Jared Golden of the Democratic party for the Maine’s second district seat. Donald Trump, as reported by BDM, posted the endorsement on social media and has claimed that Theriault is the right candidate to lead the state.

Austin Theriault has raced in all-three tiers of NASCAR in his 4 years long career in the sport. He has raced for teams such as Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s JR Motorsports and Brad Keselowski’s Truck Series team.  Theriault’s cup outings came with Rick Ware racing. While he struggled establish himself on the top-3 series, he had dominating runs in the ARCA series. He won the championship in 2017 and from his 22 outings in the series over three seasons had won eight races.

Donald Trump had some serious criticism of Austin Theriault rival from opposition

Trump seems to made up his mind that Theriault will win the primary and will be the Republican candidate, hence his attack was on the current senator from the district. He called Jared Golden a radical leftist who acts as a “bipartisan politician.”

All factors point towards Austin Theriault potentially becoming a the republican candidate. The answer to the question, whether he would become a senator is uncertain as the Maine’s 2nd Congressional District has always been a swing-district and both parties has a chance at winning.
