NASCAR has suspended Bubba Wallace for his actions in Las Vegas. The 23X1 Racing driver is barred from racing this weekend at Homestead Miami. NASCAR has deemed his retaliation and confrontation with Kyle Larson as a dangerous act. He was found breaching the organization’s behavior policy.

Bubba Wallace’s suspension is for dangerously wrecking Larson and not for confronting him. Steve O’Donnell, the executive in charge of the competition and racing operations of NASCAR clarified the suspension. He said,When we look at how that incident occurred, in our minds, (it was) a dangerous act that we thought was intentional and put other competitors at risk,’.

Bubba Wallace is the first cup driver since Matt Kenseth in 2015 to face race suspension. 23X1 Racing is not appealing the decision. They have already announced John Hunter Nemecheck as Wallace’s replacement for the Miami race. 23X1 Racing has also released a statement expressing their disapproval of his action and how it does not represent their values.

Fans on Twitter had a mixed reaction to Wallace’s suspension. Some argued that the penalty was too severe. Some felt it lacked severity. Few comments were alluding to the Noose controversy from the past. While some fans called out NASCAR’s hypocrisy on penalizing drivers’ behavior. They are using such hyper incidents for the sport’s marketing and at the same time also penalizing them.
