Martin Truex Jr. said that he is optimistic about the strength of NASCAR outfits that is currently present on the grid. He points out that a number of news are coming into the sport and NASCAR is helping them out as the sponsorship deals are not still in a great place and added that the health of NASCAR teams is really positive right now.

Most optimistic is just the strength of the teams. How many teams do we have, we’ve got new owners coming in? It seems like the way NASCAR is doing things, they’re trying to help the teams more because the sponsorships are still not in a great place. So, the health of the teams is something that is really, really positive,” Martin Truex Jr. said.

Martin Truex Jr. went on to express his thoughts on the things that worry him in NASCAR saying the changing face of NASCAR towards more close-quarter racing and the aggressiveness of the drivers worries him. He points out that though they are a lot of kids coming up to race they ae having limited opportunities to shine and even the chances they get to end up in crashes.

What I worry about is the competition part, like the racing and the racetracks. Are we going to end up where everything looks like Daytona and Talladega where it’s all so close? And then the other side is just the drivers’ aggression because there’s so much on the line. A lot of the kids coming up feel like they have a tiny little opportunity, and if they don’t take it that they’re gonna get ridiculed for it. And we see a lot of big moves that you know aren’t gonna work end up in crashes. It’s happened a lot this year. That part worries me,” Martin Truex Jr. added.

Martin Truex Jr. went on to say that when he made his move as a rookie, they were a group of drivers coming in together and learning from the mistakes while joining hands with veterans to learn more. He added that since there won’t be any five or eight drivers coming in together there isn’t that much to worry about. He concluded by saying that NASCAR is in a good hand and is heading the right direction.

At least when I was coming in, you had a group of guys come in, and then they were there for a while. And then you had one or two trickles in. And the last two years, we’ve had a bunch of new guys come in. They’ll be around a while, right? A lot of great drivers. They’ll learn from their mistakes and they’ll get to where they’re veterans and they’re teaching the new guys — but there won’t be five or eight new guys all at once. So, I guess I’m not really worried about anything, to be honest. I think it’s in a good place and in good hands and heading in a good direction,” Martin Truex Jr. explained.
