“Evernham bringing back IROC in turn killed the SRX”- Fans react as Tony Stewart’s SRX series postpones 2023 season
SRX Racing Series has dropped the plans for the 2024 season.

Tony Stewart and his co-founders introduced the Superstar Racing Experience series to the racing community with high hopes. They showed massive progress in terms of viewership and fan participation. In 2023, they signed a deal with ESPN that allowed them to broadcast the events as part of the returning iconic racing show, the Thursday Night Thunder.
But to the surprise of many racing fans, they announced postponing the 2024 season due to unfavorable market conditions. They claimed in a statement released that they are in an unfavorable situation with evolution in the industry, and they find it suitable to suspend the operations temporarily.
Time has run out to put forth the kind of events our fans, partners, drivers and tracks deserve. We're thankful to each for their commitment, their contributions and their support as we brought a new idea to reality. The racing industry continues to evolve and we are actively exploring strategic options for the series' long-term potential. We made this announcement now to allow our partners the time and flexibility to best serve their interests.SRX said via Statement.
One of the major reasons for their downfall has been the need for more TV viewership. Despite having some of the sport’s best talents fighting it out on similar cars, they have failed to increase the TV viewership as intended. This might have discouraged the sponsors and made them rethink their decision to stay.
Fans have a mixed reaction to the announcement
The race fans were quick to share their disappointment after the announcement was made. They took it X (previously Twitter) to share their views. Some fans were disappointed and disheartened with the news, while others were expecting this to come.
Few fans were quick to connect the dots and claim the teased return of IROC with new owners at the helm might be the reason for the sudden change in the market. IROC will probably start its races at the end of 2024, and if SRX doesn’t come back, fans will miss an SRX vs IROC battle.

Well darn it! That’s too bad. I really enjoyed the Thursday night racing, but it’s totally understandable because of today’s economy. Thank you for having it the last 3 years!

Guess moving to Thursday night and running off @paultracy3 didn't help the series
