Bubba Wallace and his boss Denny Hamlin have once again shared a moment on track in the 2023 season. The No:23 Camay bumped the No:11 Camry multiple times toward the final half of the race. Wallace was reacting to a similar approach from the Joe Gibbs Racing driver couple of laps before. The duo had shared some minor blows in the unofficial season opener LA Clash as well.

The reactions from the drivers aren’t surprising as both are not known for holding back when it comes to hard racing. Though it is surprising to see the No:23 car being aggressive toward his Boss, it is what Denny Hamlin wants. He has always been clear on wanting his driver, both Wallace and Tyler Reddick, to race him as they do any rivals and top not to hold back blows because he is the boss.

Hamlin and Wallace had a solid day at Martinsville. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver was solid whole and was arguably the best Toyota of the day alongside Martin Truex Jr. He couldn’t secure a higher finish and had to settle with a P4, with factors such as traffic and tire strategy playing their part. Wallace, on the other hand, topped teammate Reddick for the first time in 5 races on Sunday.

NASCAR nation on Twitter had a mixed reaction to the incident. Both drivers saw trolls and negative comments aimed at them.

Some supported Wallace claiming that Hamlin deserves it, considering he did the same a few laps ago, while some say Wallace should act wiser.

While Bubba Wallace could have raced his boss less aggressively, he didn’t do anything wrong. On track there is no boss and employee, both are racers fighting for better finish and without bumping there is no proper NASCAR race.
